Presidio Graduate School Launches Transformative Online Master of Public Administration Degree

Innovative curriculum incorporates climate and environmental sustainability, racial equity and social justice, and systems thinking into every course.

NOV. 19, 2020San FranciscoPresidio Graduate School, a nonprofit, accredited graduate school with a mission to educate changemakers to build a flourishing future for all, has launched a new online Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree. Presidio’s MPA program provides high-quality graduate education to professionals seeking to build a more just, equitable, and sustainable world through roles in both the public and social sectors.

“Transformative leaders in the public and social sectors need different skill sets today to help us move beyond the status quo,” said Elizabeth Maw, president of Presidio Graduate School. “Presidio’s reimagined MPA program will help students rethink policy and administration and empower them to create lasting positive change.”

The new, fully online MPA degree allows students and working professionals to balance their education while continuing their careers. Curriculum also has been updated to reflect the school’s mission to “educate changemakers to build a flourishing future for all.”

Presidio’s forward-looking programs integrate climate and environmental sustainability, racial equity and social justice, and systems thinking into all aspects of the curriculum. Students will study best practices in public policy administration through a lens of social justice with subjects such as policy design and equal opportunity, urban planning for climate justice and resilience, and social systems for justice and wellbeing.

“It’s imperative that we equip our students to think and act with equity and justice, no matter what professional roles they pursue,” Maw said. “We have to challenge our future leaders to take a system-wide view of critical issues and imagine new, holistic solutions to make a flourishing future possible.”

The academically rigorous program is accessible in price and format to be equitable for students and working professionals from every background. MPA students will complete 12 courses over six trimesters, through a fully online, part-time format. Coursework includes real-world case studies and applications for a practical and experiential approach, and students are paired with leading practitioners in the policy and social impact space for tailored mentorship opportunities that fit their unique needs, experiences, and passions.
