Which MBA program can I apply to?

International students are eligible to apply to PGS’s MBA in Sustainable Business, our Seattle-based Metro MBA program. The MBA in Sustainable Systems, our Hybrid MBA program at IslandWood, is not available to international students.

Important Application Steps

Before an international student may attend Presidio Graduate School, they will need to complete the following important steps leading up to being issued an F-1 student visa:

      1. Complete the application for the MBA in Sustainable Business program, including submission of official transcripts and evaluation of any foreign transcripts through an international transcript service such as » World Education Services or » Foundation for International Services.
      2. Submit the International Student Declaration of Finances. Please see below for more information on the Declaration of Finances.
      3. Presidio Graduate School will then determine if the prospective student fully meets admission requirements and has the financial ability to pay for the education and living expenses. If so,Presidio Graduate School will admit the prospective student.
      4. Presidio Graduate School will then create an Initial SEVIS record and issue a Form I-20 to the student.
      5. The prospective student then pays the SEVIS I-901 fee. Please see the SEVP web site for more information regarding the SEVIS I-901 fee.
      6. The prospective student then applies for an F-1 visa to one of the following:
        1. The local U.S. consulate or embassy in the student’s home country;
        2. The U.S. Point of Entry directly, if the student is a citizen of a visa exempt country; or
        3. USCIS for a change of status to F-1, if the prospective student is in the United States in another nonimmigrant status (see the USCIS Web site at www.uscis.gov).

What is the Declaration of Finances?

In order for PGS to issue the Certificate of Visa Eligibility (Form I-20 or DS-2019), U.S. immigration policies require that PGS verify the financial resources of all international applicants. International applicants must therefore submit complete and accurate information regarding their sources of financial support using the International Student Declaration of Finances.

Commonly, international students have a sponsor such as a family member who will complete this form for them and pay their tuition, fees, and living expenses.

All documents must be in English or accompanied with an official English translation.

Why do I need to submit the Declaration of Finances?

U.S. immigration policies require that, in order to qualify for a student visa, an international student must have the financial resources available to pay for tuition and fees as well as living expenses for the duration of the program. International students are not eligible for federal financial aid, nor are they eligible for working within the U.S. during the duration of the program. Therefore, these financial resources must be documented and verified by a bank or financial institution.

The International Student Declaration of Finances documents that you have the financial means to pay for the tuition, fees, and living expenses associated with enrolling in the MBA in Sustainable Business program at PGS.

Understanding the total costs associated with the MBA program

International students are responsible for the entire cost of the MBA program, including tuition and fees, books and supplies, living expenses while residing in the Seattle area, as well as travel and transportation costs. For the 2017-18 academic year, the estimated cost for tuition for Year 1 of the MBA program is $30,000. Books and supplies are estimated at $350.

Understanding the living expenses estimate

Living expenses are based on an estimate for what students will need for room and board and other associated costs while attending school in the U.S. This is just an estimate and the student should consider how much money they will need to live in the Seattle area while attending the program.

For the 2017-18 academic year, living expenses for Year 1 are estimated at $12,000.

Other Considerations

The declaration does not include finances for travel to and from the the U.S. for the program, and it is advised that the student consider this cost during the application process.

For the 2017-18 academic year, local transportation is estimated at $1,080, which is an average cost based on public transportation.

Total Estimated Costs

An additional consideration is that the MBA in Sustainable Business program is estimated to be an 8-quarter/24-month program in duration. Therefore, ultimately international students must have the finances for the entire duration of the program. Based on 2017-18 tuition rates of $1000/credit, this is estimated to be a total program cost of $85,000-90,000. .
