Dale-Wannen

After several months of serving as a Portfolio Manager for Harrington Investments, alumnus Dale Wannen (c9) decided to strike out on his own. He is now President and Portfolio Manager of his new venture, Sustainvest Asset Management, LLC,, a registered investment advisory firm that specializes in sustainable and responsible investing (SRI).  Dale is a firm believer in making social and environmental change with investment dollars and will be integrating ESG stock screening, shareholder activism and community or impact investing into client portfolios.

“As I became engrained in the socially and environmentally responsible investing world prior to attending Presidio, I thought getting an MBA with a focus on sustainability could only strengthen my position in the world of money management. Being involved in the investment space, I meet many colleagues with backgrounds in business from A-list grad programs. I feel having an MBA from Presidio gives me a leg up as it allows me to apply systems, leadership, and management skills to think outside the box that traditional MBA programs just don’t teach.  The Capstone project led me to create not only great business connections, but also amazing friendships.”

Dale also teaches in Oakland at the Game Theory Academy, a non-profit that focuses on bringing principles of Economics to high school students in Oakland and is the Director of ESG for startup trading platform Kapitall.  He was recently voted treasurer and board member of human rights organization Global Exchange,  founder of Green Drinks Petaluma, council member for National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and as an avid birder (yes, has been known to pull over on 101 quickly to spot a Peregrine Falcon or Red Tailed Hawk) previously sat as Treasurer and Board member for the non-profit San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory.

If anyone needs any advice on investing for a better future (both for yourself and the planet), feel free to ring up Dale or check out their website!
