ATDynamics, Inc. is a manufacturing startup organization that designs and produces aerodynamic equipment for tractor-trailers. Their trailer aerodynamics technology is reducing the fuel consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions at the back of 2 million long-haul semi-trailers pulled on US and international highways.
“This project worked with ATDynamics, a manufacturing startup organization that designs and produces aerodynamic equipment to be installed on the rear of tractor-trailers. Their flagship product is called the TrailerTail. The project goal was to assist in the development and production of AeroAds, which are advertisements that are placed on the TrailerTails. The goal of the AeroAds product launch is to offset the cost of the TrailerTails to customers, in order to put more TrailerTails on the road, thereby decreasing fuel consumption in the trucking industry.
We conducted research to locate potential materials for affixing AeroAds, as well as research to uncover market demand and estimated potential sales pricing. We conducted breakeven analysis to determine how many AeroAds contracts would need to be sold to make the product viable. We also developed tools for future use, including a template decision tree, pro forma P&L and a breakeven template. Our final recommendations included the following:
