In a Presidio blog post earlier this year, I described my work with The Green Ninja Project, a climate-change education initiative for kids. With funding from NASA, NSF and PG&E, a successful Kickstarter campaign, and other sources, our collaboration of climate scientists, animators, filmmakers, and educators have come together to create the Green Ninja, a climate-action superhero. In short, fun, web-based cartoons and videos, and teaching materials to go along with them, the Green Ninja teaches kids about the simple things they can do to make a difference in their environment.  With well over three-quarters of a million views on our YouTube channel and brand new 16-episode series kicking off this week, we are off to a great start. But, how can we make our non-profit educational program sustainable well into the future? How do we cross that bridge from an informal project to a long-term enterprise?  What is the best way to measure our impact?

Net Impact and IDEO to the Rescue

These questions were weighing on my mind when I applied to take part in Net Impact’s “Local Impact” session, a series of expertly facilitated mini-consulting / ideation sessions where four lucky local companies, nonprofits, or startups present their businesses challenges or growth opportunities and receive new ideas and solutions from current and future leaders in business and sustainability. Our team at The Green Ninja Project was thrilled to be selected to take part in this session. Annie Valdes, Design Strategist at IDEO, will be facilitating the session and everyone is invited to join the conversation. We hope to come away with some great ideas and great new ways to think about the future. Change really does start here – at Presidio and at Net Impact.

If you will be at Net Impact, consider joining us for the conversation with IDEO about the best ways to take your ideas forward. There are two chances to participate:
