As a new term begins, we are proud to welcome the next group of Presidians entering our MBA, Dual Degree, and MPA programs. PGS is in the unique position of being able to attract students who are passionate about creating a more sustainable and equitable future. Please meet a few of these gifted and inspiring individuals who have joined PGS this term.

Jacquelyn Horton, MBA Candidate

Jacquelyn was part of the IPO team for Dropbox that brought the company from public to private, and is now launching Dropbox’s Foundation and forging its first Sustainability initiatives. She chose to earn her MBA from PGS because she wants to understand how she can sell the value of sustainability to internal stakeholders and board members.

Travis Harrison, Dual Degree Candidate

Travis was a pilot, Executive Officer, and canine trainer for the Army. He now works for the federal government as a financial analyst. He wants to be “like a pebble in a pond” and lead by example among his peers. He came to PGS because he wants to show others how sustainability and systems thinking can and do belong in the federal government.

Susan Stewart, MPA Candidate

Susan has been a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Nevada since 2006 and is also a two-time Ironman finisher. She plans to earn her MPA from PGS because she wants to change the way that public schools are funded in Nevada by reversing racist housing policies that perpetuate a system of educational inequity.

Matt Sykes, MBA Candidate

Matt has been in theater production for five years and observed a system of privilege that favored white people from wealthy backgrounds when it came to funding plays, hiring directors, and other aspects of the entertainment industry. He chose PGS because he wants to bring equity, justice, and inclusion into the world of theater.

Justine Harper, MBA Candidate

Although passionate about sustainability for most of her career, Justine Harper climbed the corporate ladder in the retail industry for more than 10 years as a senior buyer for big brands such as Walmart, Levis, Old Navy, and Victoria’s Secret. When Walmart asked her to relocate due to COVID-19, she realized if she made that move, she would never pursue her passion for sustainability. She applied to our program with the intention of pivoting to a corporate sustainability position in one of the big brands she has worked for and is still connected to.

Cecilia Comparini, MBA Candidate

Cecilia is an actor and production manager who combines role-playing and performance art to teach conflict negotiation and empathy for workforce development. She is now an intern with the U.S. National Park Service and wants to earn her MBA from PGS so she can work her way up to a managerial position.
