Degree Program Prerequisites

Note: Applicants interested in pursuing a certificate should refer to the certificate page for details pertaining to prerequisites.

Presidio Graduate School welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Our programs uniquely integrate sustainability, social justice, and systems-thinking into every course. This integration allows us to teach tools and skills in a way that is not common with traditional management schools. Each course works together to ensure students graduate with the practical ability to apply these tools and skills in real-world situations.

To ensure a standardized level of knowledge for all incoming students, we require all applicants to complete the following prerequisite courses within the last five years* with a grade of B- or higher, to be considered for admission to the MBA, MPA, or MBA/MPA Dual Degree program.

Required College-Level Courses:

  • Foundational Statistics (or equivalent)
  • Managerial or Financial Accounting (or equivalent)

Applicants are welcome to begin the application process prior to completing these requirements and can potentially receive a conditional admit; however, the requirements must be fully met before starting courses. Contact the admissions team with questions.

*Students who have not taken these courses within five (5) years and have demonstrated working knowledge and experience in these areas may be eligible for a waiver of one or both of these prerequisites. Please contact the admissions team to determine eligibility.

There are three general options for students to complete prerequisites:

  1. In Person through an accredited community college, college, or university
  2. Online through an accredited community college, college, or university
  3. At PGS  by taking foundational courses customized to transition into our degree courses and taught through a sustainability lens, like all our courses. Visit here to learn more about PGS foundational courses.

Students must also begin the program with a working knowledge of MS Excel.

The below learning tools are not a substitute for these prerequisites, however, they can enhance or refresh knowledge in these areas:
