On Wednesday, February 25th three of the world’s top sustainable apparel pioneers joined the Presidio Graduate School community for an inspiring and candid conversation about the future of fashion. Melissa Fifield is senior director of Sustainable Innovation for Gap Inc., a leading global specialty retailer offering clothing, accessories, and personal care products for men, women, children, and babies under the Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta, and Intermix brands. In this role, she leads a team that identifies, incubates and pilots initiatives aimed at raising the bar for socially and environmentally sustainable performance across the company. Stephanie Kotin is responsible for developing and delivering stakeholder engagement and policy initiatives to strengthen Levi Strauss & Co.’s sustainability agenda and support the company’s business success. Jeff Denby is the co-Founder of PACT, a global apparel brand out to change the apparel industry for good. PACT makes organic cotton basics in a transparent supply chain that aims to improve the lives of the farmers who grow the organic cotton and the workers who make the clothing.

All three speakers shared stories of how their personal missions of improving global apparel creation led them to the careers that are changing the way consumers interact with fashion. From the simplest pair of socks to the highest concept couture, our three featured panelists are forging ahead to create a better global marketplace—with the foundation of fair trade, equity and sustainability.
