Alison Gold

Adjunct Professor

Alison Gold is an anthropologist, cross-sector changemaker, community-builder, emergent learner and strategist, and facilitator who works with organizations and multi-sector partnerships to create a more positive and equitable world.  She founded Optimistic Anthropology LLC in 2017 to help teams shape their knowledge, processes, strategies, and cultures to “learn into” institutional and systemic change.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Alison spent over 15 years working in nonprofits, philanthropy, and government. She played many roles in multi-sector partnerships, including as a practitioner, researcher, funder, and capacity builder.  Her practice—which centers on collaboration,  learning, and equity for systemic change—has enabled her to work on a wide range of issues—from urban poverty to emergency preparedness and response—with communities in the U.S.
